Screen shots and keyboard shortcuts

It must have been a really boring presentation because at the same time I was fiddling with iMovie, I also discovered how to get Screen Shots without firing up the Grab app. Here's how.

Look at the picture to see the keyboard shortcuts. The main key combination to remember is Command-Shift-3. This captures the whole screen and saves it as a .PNG file on your desktop. You can also try other keystrokes like Command-Shift-4, which would allow you to select only the area you want to capture. Then it will save it on the desktop like the previous key combination.

I took the screen shot of the menu above using the second key combination (capture selected area). To find the menu displayed here on your Mac, go to System Preferences > Keyboard & Mouse.
